Tango originated from Argentine. Its origins go back to the 19th century and the Milonga, an Argentine traditional dance with Moorish and Spanish traces. Tango has a sort of intimacy that other dances don’t have. It’s also known as the passion dance. Tango dancers and singers are known as “Tangueros“. Tango is characterized by many acrobatic elements such as lifts, dips and also the traditional Argentine hooking and kicking movements known as “Ganchos” and “Boleos“.

Tango is the most sensual of all styles and has a special flavor. Usually the dancers dance in a close embrace. It is danced to slower romantic music and it includes smooth movements allowing for the intricate footwork associated with the type of dance. The Tango basic rhythm is an 8 count such as Slow-Slow-Quick-Quick-Slow.

The Cha-cha is known to be the youngest Latin dance. It is in fact an American dance, introduced in the dance studios in the 1950′s as a variant between Rumba and Mambo which is a very fast dance. The Cha-cha music is a little slower than the Mambo or Salsa. It is based on an upbeat musical tempo. The dance is very common in the nowadays Ballrooms. The Cha-cha dancing style is similar to the Rumba and the Mambo.

The steps are small and the movements imply the hips action like in Rumba, well known as “Cuban motion”. Cha-cha sound is composed in 4-4 time. The creator of Cha- cha music is considered to be the Cuban composer Enrique Jorrin. It is a great dance for couples who want something special for their wedding dance.
