Many times in our articles about wedding music we mentioned the name of Dolly Parton. Dolly Parton has been a force of nature for the country music industry, writing over 10.000 songs. Dolly Parton’s talent knows no category. She has a lot of great songs and it was hard for me to narrow the list to only a few of them.

The music and lyrics of this song were written in 1977 by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. This was one of the few tracks Dolly Parton didn’t write. It became a smash hit and brought her a Grammy Award. The happy sounding song is about a girl who is swayed by the charms of her man.
Coat of Many Colors

This song was entirely written by Dolly Parton in 1971. It is an emotional tribute brought to Dolly Parton’s Appalachian heritage, a special coat made by her mother. Coat of Many Colors is featured on several of her albums and according to her, it is the song that is most personal.

This is a song written by Dolly Parton in 1975. It is a beautiful spiritual song where Dolly has a “talk with God.” Even those who don’t enjoy gospel can identify with this song. The Seeker reached no. two on the charts, being re-recorded in 1995′s Something Special.

Dolly Parton wrote this track in 1973 for her one-time mentor, Porter Wagoner. Her song is widely considered as one of the five greatest songs ever. It has been covered by dozens of artists among which Whitney Houston who had the most successful version. “I Will Always Love You” is the number one hit by Dolly Parton.
Light of a Clear Blue Morning

It is a song written by Dolly Parton in1977. It is kind of an ode to the hard professional brake up between Dolly Parton and her longtime partner and mentor Porter Wagoner. The song was featured on the album New Harvest-First Gathering and was also used as soundtrack to the 1992 Dolly Parton movie, Straight Talk.
Single Women

This is a 1982 Dolly Parton song full of personality with an interesting story behind it. The singer wanted to perform it during a Saturday Night Live sketch. It became a hit and was then included on the 1982 album Heartbreak Express. The song is about the story of single women looking for love in bars and it’s one of her best hits.

This is written by Donna Summer and Bruce Sudano in 1980. It was the first single from Dolly Parton’s album Dolly, Dolly, Dolly. The song is a touching ballad with nice vocals and lyrics about a long married couple divorcing. Not surprisingly, millions of people still identify with this song.
9 to 5

This track was written for the Nine to Five movie, being one of the biggest hits for Dolly Parton. It is a dedication to the working woman and was featured on the 1980 album 9 to 5 and Odd Jobs. Dolly Parton also won a Grammy award for this track which remains one of

her most lauded songs.
