One of the most frequent questions that appears while organizing your wedding event it’s how many songs do you need. If you had the occasion to participate to other weddings, you probably know that the number it’s pretty big if you take in consideration the entire process. If you intend to hire a DJ to perform at your reception, than your problem it’s solved.
You just have to tell him what kind of music you prefer, or you can let him do his job because I’m sure he has enough experience to play what the audience wants to hear. If you want to plan every small detail, than there it’s a long process waiting for you. You will have to make your own favorite playlists according to every moment of the ceremony.
At the religious ceremony you will have to pick up with your bride or groom some nice gospel songs for playing on background, while the guests take their seats. Two or three songs should be enough, but there might be delays, so you need to have prepared a few more just in case. After that, comes the moment when the bride walks down the aisle. One song it’s enough, but it should be a beautiful instrumental song picked by the bride, which should complete the fabulous moment of her entrance in the church. You will also need 2 more songs for the moment when you sign the register (this should be a less romantic song) and when you walk back up the aisle (this should be a more cheerful song that should deliver a feeling of happiness). Then comes the cocktail hour when your guests will be talking and socializing, while you and the family members take photos. In order to entertain you guests, you should have playing on the background 4 or 5 classical songs.
At the reception, the number of songs will increase drastically. You will have to choose 2 or 3 songs for the wedding party’s introduction and they should be some entertaining songs because you don’t want your guests to have the feeling that they are entering a funeral. Next you will have to choose the couple’s introduction song, and it’s better to choose an instrumental song that you will both enjoy. Another song will be required for the first dance.
This shouldn’t be any song, it should be a special one with a sentimental value for the newlyweds. During the ceremony you will have to play a song for the father and daughter dance, and one for the mother and son dance. You will also need a cake cutting song, a removing the garter song, a garter toss song, a bouquet toss song and of course, the last dance song. Now these are the main songs that you will have to pick for the most important moments of the wedding ceremony and reception. Besides these, you will have to select other approximately 200 dance songs for the entire reception. Now that you know how many songs you need for a wedding, you should choose them wisely because they will influence the entire event and they will assure a good mood for your guests.
