How many songs do you need for a wedding?

Before starting to create their own wedding playlist, many brides-to-be ask the same question: “How many songs do you need for a wedding?” This is a simple question which can find its answer even mathematically. Let’s say that your wedding party starts at 20.00 p.m. and ends at 6.00 a.m. There are ten hours which must be spent dancing, having fun and listening the most beautiful songs.

Usually, a song last between three and five minutes, so for ten hours of party, you’ll need like 150 songs (I calculate this number considering a song lasts four minutes). I can give you a simple tip. Before starting to think what melodies you’ll include in your own wedding playlist, make some divided folders and name them after each moment apart.

So, you’ll have the following folders: the big entrance, the first dance, the last dance, the mother son dance, the father daughter dance, cutting wedding cake, bouquet tossing, garter removal, the last dance, Dollar dance (if you’ll also include this tradition), dinner or background music, music for children (which is optionally), music for couples, songs for sisters or for brothers and any other folder which you can fill it with melodies.

After this task is done, you must think how will last every moment in part. For example, how will last the first dance or the cutting wedding cake. Fill all the folders with your favorite songs, don’t forget that is ideal to include as many musical genres as possible and don’t worry if somehow you’ve crossed the standard number of 150 songs. Ideally is to underline the name of songs which mandatory you’d like to hear at your wedding, or you can give a paper to your Dj where you’ll wrote the songs which have a meaning for you.

The easiest way is to print the paper so the DJ will understand your needs and won’t be forced to decode your handwriting. If you run out of ideas about what song to pick for your wedding, don’t hesitate and ask the advice of the Dj because I’m sure he has a huge wedding playlist. This is all you must know about the wedding playlist. If you also are worried about “How many songs do you need for a wedding?” and you’re thinking at ceremony part, here the problem is even simple because the ceremony is composed by three moments and you need just few melodies.

Twenty songs, maximum thirty songs are enough. Now, it all depends on what Unity ritual you’ll choose and how you’d like to devolve it. It also depends on the location you’ll choose. If your marriage will be officiated in a church, is better to resume at few melodies, but if you opted for an outdoor wedding and eventually is officiated by a good friend of yours, you can choose more other melodies. An alternative can be hiring a talented choir to enjoy live music. I hope this information will help you in creating a great wedding playlist and all your guests will enjoy your wedding party!
