Every future bride asks herself at some point: “Should I make a list of songs I need to pick for my wedding?” The answer it’s yes you need, especially if you have some special songs that you want to integrate in the playlist. Even if you decide to hire a band or a DJ you will still have to give them some directions about what mood you want the music to give to the event. Below you will find a list with the most important moments in a wedding where it would be nice to play some songs with a special value to you.
The wedding ceremony starts with the Prelude. This is the music that plays in the background while your guests take their seats. The songs should last approximately 20 minutes and it should be emotional, but in the same time joyful. Please don’t choose dramatic songs because you want your guests to feel like they are entering a ceremony, not a sad event.
After the Prelude, you will have to choose the Processional music. This music will play when the flower girls and the bridesmaids will enter the church. One or two songs should be enough, but make sure you pick some steady pieces because they mark the beginning of the ceremony. The Processional music it’s followed by the Bride’s Processional. This is the most important moment for a bride because she will be in the center of attention. All eyes will be focused on her while she walks down the aisle. This is why the song you will choose should be slow and should amplify the moment.
You should also put on your list some Interlude melodies for those moments of silence like the lighting of the candles. They should be some inspiring songs that should evoke the love theme. Now we’ll leave the slow beat aside and we’ll go straight to some more bright songs. They represent the Recessional music and they should be cheerful because the guests have to understand that the religious moment it’s over and the celebration moment it’s around the corner.
The last important moment of the ceremony it’s when the guests, along with the bride and the groom will leave the church and will head to the wedding reception. This music it’s called Postlude and it should create a happy atmosphere, in order to give the guests a small preview about what exciting moments await them at the party.
Now that you know which are the most important moments in a wedding ceremony and what type of music it’s appropriate, you should consider hiring some professional musicians that will help you choose the right songs. The selection process it’s significant because the list of songs you need to pick for your wedding will make the difference between a boring ceremony and a memorable one.
