R&b Wedding Songs

Everybody knows that R&B is the short term for “rhythm and blues” genre of the music that has been originally created by African Americans starting with the 40s and continuing till our days with a constant shifting in meaning. Since its appearance the sound of R&B has suffered changes both in the presence of the singers and the style it was performed. From electric blues, to gospel and soul music, the term of R&B was meant to describe a certain state of mind combined with the rhythmical sound of different instruments used in the performance.

In the modern years of music evolution, R&B has the connotation of contemporary tunes being seen as version of soul and funk to influence pop music, the latter originating from the disco versions that have faded from popularity. The today’s R&B sound is the choice of many young people to listen to and to dance to, as well, when they go out to socialize and have fun in disco places or whenever it comes to celebrate different events. One of these events is considered to be the wedding.

Weddings in their unfolding comprise the presence of music in a significant way. Wedding couples choose specific songs that are supposed to underline the special moments that take place in the wedding celebration. Whether it is about religious ceremony or reception party, music is an important aspect of the wedding. One can not have this event unwound unless music is heard in the atmosphere of the day that carries so many symbols within itself. And because these symbols are brought in by the presence of beautiful and unique feelings, such as love and dedication and desire, the same feelings that are constant sources of inspiration for the musicians, then music is the element that must be related to the atmosphere of this nice and happy celebration.

In this respect, couples reserve some of their wedding planning hours to decide upon the style of music and the choices of songs that have to reflect and emphasize the main moments that take place. Moments like bride’s entrance, exchanging vows and rings, unity candles lighting, these ones to belong to the ceremony, and the big entrance, the father/daughter dance, the mother/son dance, the first dance, all these being part of the reception after wedding party, and honored by the overwhelming power of music.

It is well-known that R&B songs are the ones to belong to the love section of our musical tastes, their velvety tunes caressing our soul whenever we have the opportunity to listen to and to dance to as well. From the multitude of this style of music songs, some of them have been traditionally performed in the unfolding of a wedding. The beauty of opting for R&B wedding songs lies in that they offer the complexity of the love feelings described on tunes that turn the songs into danceable ones, adding the note of romance to the moment.

“Spend My Life with You” Eric Benét & Tamia; “Never” Jaheim; “Ribbon in the Sky” Stevie Wonder; “On Bended Knee” Boyz II Men; “Forever My Lady” Jodeci; “Here and Now” Luther Vandross are some of the suggested songs and their choice is perfect due to the representative themes they carry inside their lyrics and tunes as well.
