Soca has been also influenced by many other music styles such as the 1960s black popular music such as soul, funk, electric blues, Hip Hop and rap, by the zouk from the French Caribbean islands and Jamaican reggae. There are also some strong elements from chutney music, a type of music popular that originated from Trinidad and Tobago’s large minority Asian Indians.
