Talking about songs for a wedding, in the following lines, I’d like to give you some tips about how you can figure out that the person in charge of the music is the right guy for your wedding:
-A real DJ already comes prepared: with mixer, station, CD-Players, speakers etc..
- the man from the station can assure you of a diversified playlist that contains various musical genres, well mixed.
-Try to have a talk with the DJ on music related topics to create an opinion about his knowledge in that matter. Be careful! He can’t call himself a DJ if his knowledge limits at about 40-50 songs.
-The DJ has a quality microphone ( not small ones, made out of cheap plastic) and knows how to use it properly ( interacts with the newly wedded, speaks to the crowd)
- He takes care of the background sound, proper for the key moments of the wedding (the guests arrival, the bride’s dance, the serving of the food, the arrival of the cake)
- Knows how to guess what kind of people came at the wedding and also what type of songs to provide for a full dance ring.

Mistakes that a DJ shouldn’t do:
- It shouldn’t be dead moments between the songs in the playlist (seconds in which you do nothing)
- He shouldn’t be very quick in satisfying the demands that come from behalf the newly wedded. For example if the father in law likes to hear a song in this moment, when the people on the dance floor dance on rock and roll. An experimented DJ doesn’t drops a song for another, he rather tries to blend it with other songs that are on the same style.
- He shouldn’t repeat songs that were already played at the wedding, with one exception (only if the bride and groom especially ask for it)
- He must not call off a song after a few seconds to change it with another.
- A truly professional DJ plays his songs from his CD’s, not from a computer.
Advice related to the wedding playlist:
- Don’t just choose random songs for the musical program of the wedding. You might sadly discover on your wedding night that the DJ is a little off the line and his musical preferences don’t have the gift of bringing people on the dance floor.

- Establish from the beginning what kind of wedding do you want: a very generalist one ( the playlist has bits and pieces from every musical genre) or theme ( a certain musical style is predominant: club music, oldies but goldies etc..)
- Talk with your soul mate and agree on what set of melodies shouldn’t miss from your wedding. You can choose absolutely everything: starting with the bride’s dance and finishing with the cake song. You go to the DJ with the songs for wedding list in your hand and you make sure that he’ll put those songs in your wedding night.

- Once your invitations have been placed, try and find out what kind of songs your guests may want to hear. This way, it will be much easier to form a playlist that you’re going to handle to the DJ.
- Avoid rock music. In general, guitar riff’s aren’t that loved by the guests. But still, if you insist that at your wedding there should be some rock music, include these songs in the morning, when the guest’s reaction is affected by the alcohol.
