Songs for the garter removal and toss

If brides have the wedding bouquet toss moment, why shouldn’t grooms have a special moment to beautify the wedding reception? Well, they have one. It’s called the garter toss and usually follows the wedding bouquet toss. The garter toss has its origins in a French tradition from the 14th century when the bride’s clothing was thought to bring luck. It’s the same legend as in the case of the bouquet toss. They are both alternatives in order to save the wedding gown.

Others think that the origins are going back to the times when friends and family accompanied the newlyweds in their bedroom to witness the wedding night. “Creepy” I would say. They received the garter as a proof of the consummation of the marriage.

It’s one of the most comical moments of the wedding. During the garter toss, the groom is trying to remove the garter from the leg of his bride who usually sits in a chair in the middle of the dance floor. Sometimes the bride dances around the chair in order for the groom to “work” harder. The groom is cheered by his friends during the removal. The photos will be fantastic.

For the moment to be spicier, the groom can use his teeth to remove the garter. Once the garter is removed, the groom gathers all his single friends, best men and single guests, turns around and tosses the garter over his shoulder. The catcher is said to have good luck and to be the next one to marry. Some men take very seriously this belief and sometimes they even get hurt in their rush for the garter.

The catcher usually puts the garter on the leg of the woman who was lucky to catch the bouquet, but that is not compulsory if he already has a girlfriend. But for singles, something good might come out from this relationship. Sometimes they even end by being together even they didn’t know each other before the wedding.

For the garter removal and toss you need some good music.
