The reception time is supposed to be fun and entertaining as this is a party after all. But not to forget about the reason to celebrate: the grooms, their love story and the beginning of a new life together. With all these ideas you just found the themes of the music.

The songs for wedding receptions have first to include the needed melodies, the must have ones and under no reason to be omitted. Like usually at weddings are some key moments, having a traditional one nor not, grooms still need: a song for the entrance time, the introduction of the grooms when the arrive to the wedding location; a song for their first dance together and right after the songs specific for the grooms’ dances with parents. Immediately it comes the start point for the party in the real meaning. So “get the party started” as pink says.
For each moment at the reception party there must be found a song. “Where words fail, music speaks” said Hans Christian Anderson so instead of announcing at the microphone a song played will set the mood of what is supposed to come next. Some of the songs needed in this way are at the cutting the cake time, at the tossing though bouquet time or the garter too if wanted. And here “You can leave your hat on” from Joe Cocker is one of the best choices, even though a common one indeed.

And lastly, the songs for wedding receptions don’t have to exclude a song as last dance at the end of the party.
