Songs To Avoid For Your Wedding Karaoke

Looking to customize your wedding with a karaoke? That’s a very good idea. You really want your guests to have a lot of fun. Karaoke is a good way to make your wedding memorable. Still, there might be some people who don’t like karaoke, so you can limit the karaoke program around an hour.

The right karaoke songs can make your wedding celebration a real blast, but be careful and avoid some selection considered to be the worst karaoke songs. You have below some examples of the worst karaoke songs:

Friends In Low Places by Garth Brooks

This song is usually sung by a group of friends who have had too much to drink and can’t get the right notes and rhythms. The line that ends with “and you can kiss my ass” is not always funny. So, be careful.

Baby Got Back by Sir-Mix-A-Lot

This 1992 hip hop song that begins with a chat between two good looking valley girls, with one girl remarking to the other, “Oh, my God, Becky, look at her butt! It is so big. She looks like one of those rap guys’ girlfriends.” This is not too nice to say on a wedding reception. Some guests might feel embarrassed.

Hotel California by Eagles

This is a great song released by the American rock band the Eagles in 1976. But it’s too long and overdone to be sung by your guests. Eagles sing it better, trust me.

Picture by Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow

For some reason newlyweds sing this song in a duet like it’s a love song. But if you listen carefully to the lyrics you’ll see that it’s in fact about cheating.
The Devil Went Down to Georgia by Charlie Daniels Band

This is a nice song when sung by Charlie Daniels Band. When it’s played for karaoke, almost every person sings it behind the beat.

Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler/Nikki French

This song is more melodramatic than funny. It is also too-long and overdone when it comes to karaoke. You may want to be original and pick something else.

I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor

This is a nice song, but it’s rather a staple for middle-aged divorcees, not a tune for a wedding karaoke.

Anything For Love by Meatloaf

Although Meatloaf fans may disagree, this song is to be avoiding because it’s too melodramatic and excessively long for a karaoke.

I Touch Myself by The Divinyls

This is a 1991 single performed by the Australian rock band Divinyls. It has since been covered by numerous artists and it is not appropriate for a wedding.

My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion

This is not a song for a wedding karaoke. If you listen to the lyrics you’ll see that I’m right. It’s about how to get over a lost love.

Summer Nights by Grease soundtrack

Even if the song sounds great, it is the most overdone duet in the history of karaoke shows. It is like a cliché for wedding karaoke. Be original!

I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston

This is a complicated ballad and it is a bad idea to choose it at karaoke. Only Whitney does it right.

My Way by Frank Sinatra

Like Summer Nights, this classic song tops many playlists as the most overdone karaoke song. Sinatra has over 900 songs among his recordings. Pick something else.

You might argue with some of my choices, but if you’ll do little research you’ll realize that I know what I’m talking about.
