Wedding Slideshow Songs

There is a modern trend in nowadays weddings for the wedding couple to play a slideshow at the reception of their wedding. I once witnessed such a moment when the newly wed suddenly stood up after some of the meals were served and announced that they has a surprise for us. I don’t know how many of us were expecting this, but when I saw the big projector being brought into the reception hall I imagined that it was the time for a slideshow.

The wedding couple weren’t of a good acquaintance to me, I was there as a pair to my boyfriend who actually he was a good friend of the groom’s. I was aware that through this moment the invitees will get to know better the wedding couple agreeing at the same time with the fact that a slideshow add a note of personalization to this occasion.

wedding-slideshow-songsAnd images, photos running in Power Point program, started to invade the large white screen and each one of it was commented by the husband and wife, sometimes with intended witty remarks, but unfortunately I didn’t find them to be that witty, in fact I caught myself quite often smiling mostly out of politeness. And the photos kept on being displayed with the only background available the same voices of the couple. I was really starting to get bored asking myself when this is going to end for us to be allowed to dance.

And the worse thing with this wedding slideshow was that it missed the music as a background. Maybe if they had thought of playing some songs to go with the photos, it wouldn’t have been that flatly boring. I remember that I took a look around at the invitees seating at other tables and I noticed that some of them started already to talk to each other not paying at least of attention to the slideshow.

I was almost on the verge of telling my boyfriend to go and hurry up the process of slideviewing when suddenly the voices stopped and finally the couple realized that their idea with the slideshow wasn’t as good as they had expected it to be.  But it was only their own fault. They would have better considered being concise in the commentaries, displaying photos that had a meaning which reached in a way or another audience’s hearts. And what was most important to connect some wedding slideshow songs to the photos. Of course that kind of songs that was relevant to the period of when the photos were taken. It is, we have to admit, a hard task, because not all the moments of the photos can find their reflection in a song, but at least it would have rendered a certain joy or freshness to the otherwise dull atmosphere.

Another option to display a slideshow at your wedding is the off-to-the-side style, where a slideshow is located and viewed on one sides of the dance floor, invitees being allowed to dance while watching from time to time the photos that run on the big screen and listening and dancing to the songs.
